Comparison of performance during finishing: The aim of this study was to analyze pig water consumption and performance during finishing by comparing four types of drinking trough. There was no significant difference between the troughs with respect to average daily weight gain. The water savings observed with use of the bowl and cover led to a reduction in both the amount of water wasted and the volumes of manure in the trench. This project demonstrated increased wastage of water at watering troughs by confirming the impact of visual examination of the troughs and the surrounding ground as a means of detecting any waste.
