After enjoying strong growth in the last five years, organically farmed (OF) production is stagnant. The main brake on the growth of OF meat production is its high price differential over conventionally farmedmeat. Even so, its price is fair considering the cost of the main production factors. Grouping OF pigs for slaughter in the same slaughterhouse improves health safety. These farms seem to be disadvantaged mostly by higher labour costs.
