Pig housing on deep litter are always buildings fitted up. Farmers used 40 to 80 kg of straw per pig or 0,1 to 0,2 m3 of sawdust. Quantities produced per finishing pig were 331 kg and 0,74 m3 for straw litter, corresponding to 3,1 kg N, 2,5 kg P2O5 and 3,8 kg K2O.Pig litter composting indicated than 3 turning over are enough. The best results obtained were a reduction in volume of 50 % and increase indry matter content of 10 points, an improvement of 50 % in nitrogen content and a doubling or trebling of P2O5 and K2O levels.Slurry composting with straw is possible. Straw is an excellent carbon matter for slurry degradation. It is possible to add 12 or 15 m3 slurry to 1 ton straw.
