IFIP and INRAE have codeveloped a model called GESTE to implement and assess collective manure management at a territory scale. This collaborative work has required a multidisciplinary approach with several engineers and researchers daily involved in its development. The first version of the model was implemented in Python language.
Among other things, GeoPandas package was used to manage geographical data about farms and manure spreading plots. Because of it, GESTE partners faced difficulties to share and run the different versions of the model on each individual computer. Indeed, despite the massive development of communication technologies inside companies, the collaboration for coding remains hard due to versioning troubles, compatibility between environments and software licenses.
This poster aims to present a work method to facilitate scientific collaborative project, the result is a workflow using, as much as possible, free and open-source software (FOSS).
