Breeders must in future identify their pigs using equipment authorised by the Ministry of Agriculture, the list of which was published at the end of 2006. If breeders have not already acquired authorised equipment they have until 29 March 2007 to do so. All pig breeders must comply with the identification procedures described in the annex to the modified order of 24 November 2005, and the procedure for placing the identifiers specified therein. More information on the possibilities and specific features of the equipment is available on the IFIP website, www.ifip.asso.fr, under the heading Traceability/Breeding/Authorised equipment.
