Status report on the treatment of pig slurry in France

This status report highlights the French pig farming industry’s efforts to promote the resorption of surplus nitrogen, since November 2005 figures show that around 380 treatment plants were in operation, with over 85% of these located in the Brittany region alone.The activated-sludge biological treatment remains the most widely implemented method, since it is applied at 3 in 4 plants and was used in 83% of the quantities treated (87% in Brittany).
