Canada has a good reputation on the export markets in terms of health and safety and the use of Duroc terminal boars which provide excellent meat quality. One of the Canadian pig breeding system’s strong points is the use of a recognized and efficient genetic improvement program. Over the last few decades, major advances stemming from genetic improvement have impacted significantly on the productivity of Canadian swine farms.
