Tattooing of weaned piglets with the self-inking pneumatic tattoo gun. Results of a survey among farmers

ITP conducted a survey among farmers to measure the performance of the compressors used and determine the conditions of use and the degree of satisfaction of the users. The pneumatic tattoo gun is a useful tool for pig farmers specialised in birthing or birthing-fattening, making it possible, in a single operation, to mark piglets with a place indicator and birth week number. Most farmers are satisfied with the tattoo gun method according to the farmers questioned.The tattoo gun works well only if the farmer obeys the operating instructions. The ITP survey allowed specifications for this method to be set more precisely and highlighted the frequent deficiencies of the compressors used.
