Two trials for the measurement of minerals in wheat starch processing by-products were conducted in 1999 and 2001. The results obtained provided an initial data bank on mineral contents: macro-elements calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, chlorides and phosphorus, and trace elements iron, copper, zinc and manganese. Assay values allowed a comparison to be made between the two wheat campaigns (1997 and 2000). The first analysis for 1999 showed that the mineral composition was characteristic of each by-product. CORAMI® showed a narrower variability than AMIDYN. Analysis of the results per year showed that CORAMI® had a statistically stable macro-element composition over the two campaigns, whereas iron, zinc and copper contents were significantly different. For AMIDYN, significant differences were observed for sodium and copper.
