Feeding strategies used during the fattening period are mainly
evaluated through the performance of pigs in terms of:
- Growth rate (ADG) and Feed conversion ratio (FCR), characterised on farm: major factors of production costs;
- Lean meat content (LMC)
assessed by the online carcass
grading method at slaughter:
major factor of farmer's income.
A study was carried out to characterise the impact of a 15% feed
restriction or a limiting amino acid (AA) supply on ADG, FCR and
LMC of crossbred pigs fattened indoor under thermoneutral
conditions (batch 1) or summer conditions (batch 2).
