Recommendations and calculations of digestible phosphorus input from raw feed and phytases

This article describes the methods and procedures for calculating pig diet needs and supply through raw feed and phytases. The calculation is made differently according to the plant phytase activity of the feed. Plant phytases from straw can contribute to the digestible phosphorus input of the feed. The paper includes a round-up on the most recent pig trials and also reviews digestible phosphorous needs in pigs. Given the current climate in the raw feeds market, this research provides valuable indications on controlling P excretion and determining the dietary supply of P that is utilizable by pigs.
