The aim of the study was to compare the simultaneous operation of three ventilation systems on three decks during a 10-hour journey, and to study the effects on the welfare of pigs of natural ventilation byflaps regulated by temperature sensors, blowers regulated by temperature sensors, and natural ventilation through opened flaps. The results depended strongly on the outside ambient conditions (notably temperature and air speed) and whether the truck was moving or stationary. This study was conducted with the ITP-COOPAGRI Brittany experimental truck financed by DGAL.
