Point of view: Slowdown in hog production in 2023

In October, the USDA published its global forecasts for 2023. Growth in world pork production is expected to slow (+1% year-on-year, compared with +2.1% in 2022/21) to almost 111 million cwt, due to more restrained Chinese production and a decline in European supply. In 2023, pork will once again be in competition with poultry, whose production is expected to recover and grow by 1.8% in 2023/22.
