The European Commission recently shared its forecasts for agricultural markets up to 2025, particularly in the pork sector. They confirm the stabilisation of European markets already underway in 2024.
Production and consumption expected to remain stable
In 2024, pig production is set to fall by 0.5% in the EU, a trend that is set to continue with a moderate fall of 0.2% in 2025. But this outlook seems pessimistic, given that the number of pigs slaughtered and carcass weights have been rising across the EU since January.
